Aglaia Gronas references a long-standing tradition from the Soviet Union — still present in some post-Soviet countries — where young boys dress as rabbits for New Year’s performances kindergartens and schools.
The paintings show boys in soft rabbit costumes clutching toy soldiers — figures suspended between play and the early internalization of militarized roles. In the series, artist explores the fragility of identity shaped under the pressure of inherited violence and present ongoing armed conflicts.
